stuff the hubs says

So the stuff the hubs says is srsly so funny I decided to tell you all some of it.  He has the most dry sense of humor ever in life, and it has literally taken me 8 years to actually understand he is joking 90% of the time...

(talking about a small child who is really badly behaved)
R: She just needs to stop coddling the little sh*t

Me: I think Char is falling asleep in the backseat
R: (shaking C's foot) Don't fall asleep, I will slap you.

(after a really bad temper tantrum from C)
R: kids really are the worst

Me: Char just woke up from her nap
R: Just ignore it

Me: (freaking out about fractions)
R: Calm your sh*t

3 day weekend

//we don't get many pics of just the two of us anymore, i love this one!//
//crazy med school and me//
//S and her dad walking down the aisle//

 This weekend was amazing. It was just great for my soul (I know that is super cheesy...its probably fine). I seriously have the greatest friends ever in life.  Two of my BFFs came for a night and we just had the best time.  We went to our friends surprise wedding which was so beautiful, the bride (my friend S) was gorgeous, it was in a cute backyard, and seeing the love between the two of them made me cry.  Her daughter little M ran down the aisle to hand Char a rock she found during the middle of it...hahaha.  We left the wedding and put char down for her nap and opened a bottle of charles shaw (at 3 pm) and it was just so relaxing! Then we went out that night and just had the best night ever in life.  Those two just get me, and I am so lucky they could both come stay for a night! Sunday when I woke up I went to check on them and they had Francisco (our huge bear) spooning them, I almost died laughing... after they left we just had a relaxing day and picked up my mom from the airport, had a BBQ over at my in-laws, and ran 5 miles it was such a great run and perfect weather for it.  Today we had a picnic and had my brother and his fiance over for burgers, every weekend should seriously be a 3 day weekend.  Thank you to all who have served, and are serving every day.  These next two weeks are going to be so crazy, it's wedding season!

ready for the weekend

 //shirt: Pitaya, pants: Nordstrom Rack//
//charlotte: dress: hand me down, pants: target//

I seriously have not been having a great week.  Hot pink pants made it a little better though, and the fact that Char has hot pink pants too was a bonus.  First of all math class.  We learned fractions the other day and I just about cried in class because I am SO not good at fractions.  Then our weekend plans got cancelled.  I just had my hopes up so high for actually getting out of town for once for memorial day.  Then I got a parking ticket...partly my fault bc the meter ran out 5 min before I got there but I really had to pee after class...when I got home I stepped in dog poop.  Then Char was running around naked outside because it was really hot and she came up and hugged me and promptly peed on my foot.  I mean I guess thank you? The hubs gave me a big hug and made guacamole and gave me chips with hint of lime.  Made my day turn around for real.  This weekend turned around because two of my besties are coming to visit and having a girls night.  Thank goodness for good friends who cheer you up.

late night ramblings...

I was looking through my iphoto tonight and it brought back so many memories...I got this computer right after I graduated college, it was my first big purchase, and I was so excited.  It has gone through three moves, a marriage, a baby, and two cats with me.  I love my MacBook.  Now that I am back in school and not lugging around my old huge PC I appreciate it even more.

The other day the hubs and I were remembering all of the places we have lived, my first crappy apartment, our first apartment where we brought Char home to, and our place now.  I can't wait to see where our lives take us, it will be so fun to show C where it all began though when we come back to visit.

I am feeling super sentimental lately, I think it was turning 26, but I seriously don't think I could be happier (well unless I won a million dollars, bc lets be serious I am broke!) My parents always told us stories about how the first years of marriage they were really poor, but those years were some of their favorite because of all the quality time they spent together, their date nights were spent at the laundry mat and they would splurge on a McDonald's coke to share.

I really think that we will look back on these years with great stories, about how one time we only had 2 dollars in our bank account and had to scrounge for change to pay for our dollar taco date nights, one time we had a fashion show of all our old clothes, and then donated them (cheap entertainment ha), how our only date nights were sometimes laying on a blanket outside and looking at the stars, how when we brought Char home to our teeny apartment we fell asleep snuggling, and my parents brought us the best take out burgers ever so we wouldn't have to cook, how we literally lived off of grilled cheese, ramen, and soup one summer.  These are stories we will someday tell our kids, about our first years of marriage being some of the most fun, and the hardest at the same time.

Honestly though I would not change ANYTHING because I think it brought us closer as a couple, and if we can make it through that, then I know we can make it through anything life has to throw at us.  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?  I think we are teaching C more than we know, she is a happy, fun, adventurous toddler, and I know that we would do anything to make sure she has what she needs.  And that, that is all I need.

expectations

I had so many expectations for this weekend, but turns out we didn't do any of them.  I wanted to go to the zoo, have a picnic, go to greenfield village...but we did errands, went to a lot of parks, took a lot of walks, had some friends over to grill, enjoyed the sunny weather, went on a 4 mile run, and just had a relaxing weekend.  I am really glad none of my expectations really turned out because it was super nice just to spend time with my little fam.  We got out the sidewalk chalk and I am pretty sure we were having more fun than C was, all she wanted to do was eat it...we spent 98% of our weekend outside, and I loved every minute!

summer days

Yesterday it was SO beautiful outside, we were pretty much outside all day long except for when I had to go to school to take a math test (which I think I actually did pretty great on!) After we went to the botanical gardens we stripped C down, put on a bunch of sun screen and let her loose in the yard...she had a blast except she is scared of grass and stepping on it so she had to have her crocs on.  The hubs said this is probably what she will be wearing when we go camping all summer long, I can't say I am opposed to this because there is srsly nothing cuter than a baby in a diaper and crocs...except maybe a baby in jeans.  Today I had a super productive morning, we had breakfast, I taught C how to say "Amy", we painted our nails, and then went to the park to swing for an hour.  I told the hubs about our morning and he said "doesn't sound that productive to me" lol

craft room reveal

We are almost all finished Char's craft/reading room, it just needs a few finishing touches but I am so excited that this room is no longer just a junk room and can actually function as a play space for C while I am getting ready/cleaning in the morning along with a guest room if we happen to have any! All we have left to do is put up some twinkle lights, hang the letter "C" and put some pillow cases on.
